AHOSKIE – Elizabeth Freeman Miller, age 95 of Ahoskie, passed away on August 22, 2014 at Vidant Roanoke- Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.

She was born on December 18, 1918 to the late Herbert and Cecie Parker Freeman in Bertie County, NC. Elizabeth was a wonderful cook and everyone in the community loved her cooking. She was an active member of Mars Hill Baptist Church. Elizabeth was a great homemaker and was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Stanley E. Miller; and three brothers, H.C., Laten, and Lewis Freeman.

Elizabeth is survived by her son, Brent and wife Shirley Miller of Richmond, VA; daughter, Dianne Miller Foxwell of Norfolk, VA; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Miller and husband Thomas Sundberg of Richmond, VA, and Melonie F. and husband C.T. Brame of Lawrenceville, VA; three grandsons, Chris and wife Felicia Miller of Key West, FL, John and wife Rosana Foxwell of Camden, GA, and Stan and wife Marianna Foxwell of Atlanta, GA; eleven great-grandchildren, Caroline, Aaron, Tiana, Rylee, Elizabeth, Andrew, Oscar, Jonathan, Kathryn, Brent, and Mandy, several great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Margaret Joyner of Ahoskie, NC, and Cora Lee Harrell of Chesapeake, VA., and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held on Monday, August 25, 2014 at Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. A celebration of life memorial service followed at the Mars Hill Baptist Church, Colerain, NC, with the Rev. Mike Willard and the Rev. Billy Presley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions may be made to the Mars Hill Baptist Church, 1325 Meadow Road, Colerain, North Carolina 27924.
