AHOSKIE – Proof that dreams definitely come true was obvious here Thursday evening.

Brianna Archer, a native of Ahoskie, said she had a dream; one she had no idea would come into fruition. The dream was one that would showcase the epitome of a community coming together in yet another positive way.

Her dream was simply this…members of the community walking for God and then giving back to that same community.

Well, it happened, and what Brianna said compelled her to do this was the idea of community outreach; she wanted to also make others who weren’t necessarily aware of God, aware.

The dream she said took place about three months ago and “it started as something small, a small gathering and it ended up becoming a big thing,” she said. “In the dream, it was a bunch of people spreading the word of God and not many people just randomly do this.”

“I want people to be more willing to talk about God and not be ashamed to do so,” she added.

For those taking part or witnessing the event first-hand, her mission is complete.

The outcome of the inaugural “Walk for God” was tremendous. Dozen of residents, along with bystanders cheering on the walkers, contributed to the effort.

The walk began at Southern Bank on east Main Street and ended at the Ahoskie Creek Amphitheater. After all the walking was done, participants shared food and backpacks for children who will be returning to school very soon. The encapsulation of an event featuring community and God was a success.

If God did speak to Brianna in another dream following last week’s event, perhaps he said, “Job well done, my good and faithful servant.”
