WOODLAND – James Linwood Lane, Sr. died Tuesday, July 29, 2014.

A native of Northampton County and recently of Roanoke Rapids, he was retired from the United States Air Force serving 20 years, and also retired from the Town of Woodland after 20 years as Town Manager.

He had been preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Virginia Martin Lane and will be remembered as a loving and caring father and grandfather – a true family man. He served for many years in the Woodland Volunteer Fire Department; loved to garden, and work in his yard and woodshop.  Layla, Buddy, Junior, and Haley were his dogs.

He is survived by five children, eight grandchildren, and one great granddaughter; one brother and one sister.

A graveside service, with Air Force Military Honors, was held on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014 in the Town of Woodland Cemetery.
