AHOSKIE, NC – Joseph Dean Hewitt, age 51, passed away on June 26, 2014 at Vidant Medical Center of Greenville, NC.

Mr. Hewitt was born on December 8, 1962 to Raymond and the late Hazel Wiggins Hewitt in Ahoskie, NC. Joseph worked as an electrician for most of his life, but was a jack of all trades. He was an avid sportsman and loved the beach and fishing, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, being a loving son, husband, father, and brother.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Susan Harrell Hewitt; his daughter, Kaley Brianna Hewitt of Ahoskie; a son, Brian Hewitt of Dallas, TX; and four brothers, Tommy Hewitt of Ahoskie, Jimmy Hewitt of Kentucky, Mike Hewitt and wife, Bobbi, of Ahoskie, and Gary Hewitt of Kentucky.

Besides his mother, Joe was predeceased by a brother, Steve Hewitt.

The family will receive friends at the family home at any time.

Memorial services were held on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service of Ahoskie with the Rev. Daniel Mullens officiating.
