Thomas E. Perry

LEWISTON-WOODVILLE – Thomas Evans Perry, age 78, died Thursday, January 30, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Perry was born in Bertie County on June 30, 1935, a son of the late Jim and Blonnie Evans Perry.  Tommy was a member of Republican Baptist Church and the Davie Masonic Lodge #39, AF & AM, and served as Boy Scout Leader for many years in the Lewiston Woodville community.  He was a retired farmer and also retired from the NC Department of Agriculture Research Lab, having a peanut named after him for his work there, The Perry Peanut.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Barbara Morris Perry; a daughter, Carolyn Perry Fornes and husband, Tony, of Aulander; two sons, Gary Thomas Perry and wife, Mary, of Georgia, and Richard Allen Perry of Ahoskie; and his granddaughters, Megan L. Fornes and fiance’ Craig of Lewiston-Woodville, and Brooke Elise Mitzke of Florida.  Besides his parents, Tommy was predeceased by several siblings.

The family will receive friends at the home.

A celebration of life service was conducted on Sunday, February 2, 2014 in the chapel of Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service of Ahoskie. Burial followed in Hoggard Memorial Cemetery, Lewiston-Woodville.  Flowers are welcome, or memorial donations may be made to Parkinson Association of the Carolinas, 5970 Fairview Road, Suite 217, Charlotte, NC, 28277.
