WINDSOR – James Truett Miller 71, of 120 Bull Hill Road, Windsor, died Monday, September 16, 2013 at his home.  He was born in Bertie County May 19, 1942 to the late Delmar “Ted” and Madge Williford Miller and was predeceased by a brother, Wayne Miller.

Truett retired from Sprint Telephone Company as Director of Operations in South Carolina. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church and Army Veteran. He was a partner in Miller and White Real Estate, a member of the VFW, Optimists Club and past president of Cashie Golf and Country Club.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday September 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Edgewood Baptist Church by Rev. Chris Lee. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Joan White Miller of the home; daughters, Bellene Miller Fischer and husband, Brian, of Greenville, Helene Miller O’Neal and husband, Neal, of Belhaven; grandchildren Briton and Bella Fischer and Walton and Miller O’Neal; and nieces Tounya Halsey of Roper, Michelle Miller-Cobb of Gloucester, VA and Stephanie Cress of Williamsburg, VA.

The family will receive friend from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday September 17, 2013 at Walker Funeral Home and at other times from the home.
