MERRY HILL – Lawrence Academy’s defense had kept the Warriors within a touchdown at 6-0 against Arendell Parrott Academy with a little under two minutes left in the first half here Friday night.

However, the Patriots scored to make it 14-0 and went on to a 48-14 win that sent the Warriors to their second loss of the season.

Logan Mizell had 178 yards on 31 carries for Lawrence and scored both Warrior touchdowns. Lawrence finished the night with 256 total yards.

The only score in the first quarter was Parrott going 50 yards in ten plays with the opening kickoff for the game’s first score. It stayed that way thru the first quarter and right up until almost halftime.

Parrott put two touchdowns on the board before the half for a 22-0 lead but Lawrence would answer with a score of their own: a 65-yard drive capped by a Mizell run with just three seconds left before the horn. Quarterback Jarrett Harrell hit George Wood for a two-point conversion to make it 22-8 at the break.

Parrott scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to make it 35-8 after three, and then again with 10:08 left in the game to make it 42-8.

Both teams scored in the final two minutes of the game.  Lawrence’s Tyler Binnicker recovered a fumble on the Parrott 14 yard line and six plays later it was 42-14 after a Mizell one-yard run.

Parrott added one more meaningless score with 20 seconds left for the final score.

Parrott is now 2-0 while Lawrence falls to 0-2. The Warriors are on the road at Halifax Academy next Saturday evening.
