Nathan Francis, Jr.

CONWAY – Nathan Francis, Jr., 77, died Saturday, August 17, 2013 at University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

A native of Capron in Southampton County, Virginia, he served in the United States Army and then settled in Northampton County, working 20 years with the Talon Corporation in Woodland. He was, also, a self-employed Mechanic who loved to work, to stay busy and was an avid NASCAR racing and Dale Earnhardt fan. He and his wife, Clonie, enjoyed times they shared at Lake Gaston and the friends that they met there.  A member of Woodman of the World, his motto was “every day is a good day” and he lived his life to its fullest.

Preceded in death by parents, Nathan Francis and Ruby Banty Francis and sisters, Lucille Vann and Lizzie Spivey, he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Clonie Vann Francis of their home; one sister, Helen Gillette of Capron, VA; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will be receiving friends at Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc., 605 West Main Street in Conway, on Monday, August, 19, 2013 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. His graveside service will be held in the Town of Conway Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20 with the Rev. David Ross and the Rev. James Hutchinson presiding.
