Kermit R. Barnes

CONWAY – Kermit Ray Barnes, 67, of Conway died Friday, May 17, 2013 after a 16 year battle with cancer. He had been preceded in death by his parents, Kermit and Marjorie Jones Barnes; and a brother, Wayne Barnes.

A native of Northampton County, he retired from International Paper in Franklin after 43 ½ years of employment. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he was a member of Galatia Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Beatrice B. Barnes of their home; son, Kevin Barnes and his wife, Ellen Taylor, and grandson, Andrew Levi Barnes, of Atlanta, Georgia; sister, Clarine B. Outland and husband, Edward, of Lasker; mother-in-law, Margie Burgess of Rich Square; and several nieces and a nephew.

The family received friends at Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc. in Conway on Saturday, May 18, 2013 and his graveside service was held on Sunday, May 19 in the Town of Conway Cemetery.  The family requests that memorial donations be made to UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center – Colon, Pancreas & Liver Cancers at www.unclineberger.org.
