AHOSKIE – Anita Morris McCoy, age 89, died Monday, March 25, 2013, at her home in Ahoskie.

Mrs. McCoy was born in Bertie County, NC on February 26, 1924, a daughter of the late Ola Taylor and Thomas T. Morris.  She was a devoted wife, wonderful mother, and homemaker.  Mrs. McCoy’s hobbies included golfing, gardening, playing bridge, and reading.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ahoskie.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, H. Paul McCoy, Jr. and wife, Lynn, of Scotland Neck; her daughter, Suzanne McCoy Lee and husband, Joel, of Raleigh; her grandchildren, Charles Michael McCoy and wife, Angie, of Greenville, Paul Carson McCoy and wife, Laura, James Cameron Lee, and Kathryn Grace Lee, all of Raleigh; and great grandchildren, Charles Austin McCoy and Garrett Paul McCoy, both of Greenville.  Also surviving is her brother, Donald Sasser Morris and wife, JoAnn of Hertford, NC, her sister-in-law, Janice Wiggins Morris of Ahoskie; numerous nieces and nephews; and two loving, wonderful friends, Gina Barber and Esther Parker.

Besides her parents, Mrs. McCoy was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Harold Paul McCoy, Sr. on Nov. 8, 2012; and a brother, Thomas Thurman Morris.

A celebration of life service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Ahoskie with the Rev. Daniel Glaze officiating.  Burial will follow in AhoskieCemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 107 Forest Drive in Ahoskie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church of Ahoskie, P.O. Box 649, Ahoskie, NC, 27910; Vidant Health Care Hospice, P.O. Box 272, Ahoskie, NC, 27910; or to one’s favorite charity.
