MURFREESBORO – The pay is low…okay, it’s none at all…but the end reward is greater.

Communities in Schools of Hertford County (CISHC) is seeking a volunteer to serve the organization as its Executive Director. CISHC officials said that this will be a volunteer position at the current time. However, if funding is secured, the position may become paid. If so, the position will be re-advertised.

Communities In Schools of Hertford County, Inc. is a non-profit organization that works with the county school system, local businesses, civic groups, and agencies to support the county’s students.  Their mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.  CISHC champions the connection of needed community resources with schools to help young people learn, stay in school, and prepare for life.

CISHC is experiencing growth and is in need of a seasoned management professional, an individual who is sensitive to the diverse cultural needs of the community.  The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management of CISHC and its programs, including prudent fiscal management of the organization.  She or he will also serve as the external face of the organization, conveying its mission and vision to the community.

Strong applicants will possess excellent management, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, and familiarity with QuickBooks, Web site maintenance and Total Quality Systems.  Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in public administration, education, social science, or related field with an understanding of non-profits, fundraising and grant writing.

The Executive Director position reports to CISHC’s Board of Directors.  The position is a non-paid, volunteer position for six months.  Once funding is available, the salaried position will be advertised.
