William Baker McClenney

MURFREESBORO – William Baker McClenney, 72, of Murfreesboro died Friday, March 15, 2013 at Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie.

He had been preceded in death by his wife, Dolores B. McClenney; parents, Richard Haywood and Eva May Boyce McClenney; and brothers, Richard McClenney, and Eugene McClenney.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, he was born in Williamston and raised in the Norfolk, VA area. He served in the United States Air Force and while in service flew missions over Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  Later he and his family settled in Murfreesboro where he was Plant Manager of the Georgia Pacific Corporation there. Fishing and camping with his family were his favorite events.

Survivors include three children, Joe McClenney and wife, Sherrie, of Greenville, Rhonda Flythe and husband, Richard, of Conway, and Hank McClenney and wife, Stacey, of Washington; eight grandchildren, Bill and Shaina Harrison, Avery and Addison McClenney, Tyler Hardison, Kaitlyn, Justin, and Hailey Cherry; sisters, Airy Measley, Faye Parker, and Shirley Sampson; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be receiving friends at the McClenney home in Murfreesboro and his graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in RiversideCemetery, Murfreesboro.
