MURFREESBORO – Chowan University’s annual SeniorFEST, a senior-adult event held each spring on the historic campus, highlights healthy lifestyles, Christian living and sheds light on other issues facing senior-adults today.

With special guest speakers, informative breakout sessions, live musical entertainment, classic southern buffet and door prizes, SeniorFEST offers a day full of fellowship and fun for individuals or groups.

This year’s event, Tuesday, March 19 from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm, hosts special guest Christian singer/songwriter Kyle Matthews presenting “Telling our Story, Singing our Song.”

In almost two decades of writing and performing his songs, Kyle Matthews has emerged as one of Christian music’s most prolific songwriters. Of his over 60 cuts by major artists of disparate genres, he has penned such well known songs as “If You Want Me To” recorded by Ginny Owens, “Everything and Nothing” recorded by Vince Gill, “One and the Same” recorded by CeCe Winans, “God Forbid” recorded by Point of Grace, and “Been Thru the Water” recorded by Matthews himself.

His songs have been broadcast and performed in concerts around the world and have appeared on television shows such as the Oprah Winfrey show, as well as the BET and WB networks, among others.

Breakout sessions include “The Future of Social Security and Medicare”; “What’s in Season? Health benefits of seasonal fruits and vegetables, gardening tips and recipes”; “Financial Investments in Your Retirement Years”; “Jesus at Chowan: The World-Wide Reach of Chowan Campus Ministry” and “Have I lost my mind? An Introduction to Alzheimer’s and Dementia”.

This year’s SeniorFEST is only $12 per person, all included. Please RSVP by Friday, March 8.
