ROXOBEL – Blanche Lane Corey, age 91, died Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living in Charlotte.

Mrs. Corey was born in Roxobel in Bertie County on December 5, 1921, a daughter of the late Lucille Peele and Samuel Russell Lane.  She lived in Roxobel most of her life and was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church.

She was married to Thomas L. Corey, Sr., who preceded her in death, and from that union was born three children.  Blanche was an avid gardener who enjoyed growing roses.  She enjoyed cooking and watching birds, but above all, she loved to read her bible.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Diane Paquin and husband, Tom, of Lancaster, SC, and Linda White of Hampstead; her son, Thomas L. Corey, Jr. and wife, Anna, of Concord; and her grandchildren, Ramona Lane of Greenville, Kelly Corey of Huntersville, and Thomas L. Corey, III of Concord.  She is also survived by a sister, Virginia Chappell of Taylors; and two brothers, Charles Lane of Rocky Mount and Earl Lane of Kure Beach.  Besides her parents and husband, Blanche was predeceased by a brother, William Lane.

A celebration of life graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at the AhoskieCemetery with the Rev. H. C. Boschen officiating.

The family will receive friends at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service in Ahoskie, from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. on Saturday prior to services.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, Charlotte Region, 1420 East Seventh St., Charlotte, NC, 28204.
