Dixie Walls Barbour

GARNER – Dixie Walls Barbour, 73, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at her home.

Born in Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late Sherwood and Esther Cooke Walls.  Mrs. Barbour was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and a retired school teacher.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 8, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Mrs. Barbour is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, Rev. Berry O. Barbour;  son, Sterling Barbour and wife, Paula; daughter, Debbie Spivey and husband, Rex, all of Garner; grandchildren, Brad Barbour and wife, Jill, Lauren B. Blackmon and husband, Brandon, Matthew Spivey and Todd Spivey; sisters, Katie Head and Snowdrop Crowder; and brothers, Dwight and Billy Walls.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Nancy Burns, Betty Jane Moss; brothers, Frank, Eugene and Jack Walls and Henry Walls Pendergraft.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
