KELFORD – Richard Long Ayscue, Jr., 67, of Kelford died Monday, January 7, 2013 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie.

Richard was born in Bertie County on March 18, 1945, the oldest son of the late Richard Long Ayscue, Sr. and Evelyn Mizelle Ayscue.  He retired as an employee of Bryant Brothers, Inc. of Roxobel, NC.

Left to cherish his memory is his brother, William Ayscue and wife, Sue, of Woodland; his sisters, Peggy Ayscue Bailey of Ahoskie, Jeanette Ayscue Tinkham and husband, Eddie, of Aulander, Lillie Ayscue Hall and Bonnie Ayscue Strickland of Kelford; four nieces and five nephews.

Richard’s family would like to thank the ER, ICU and 2nd Floor staff at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, and the staff and residents of Rich Square Health Care Center for the care and friendship shown during the time of his illness.

A graveside memorial service will be conducted by Rev. Doug Spivey at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Roxobel-Kelford Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and family after the service on Friday, January 11 at the Fellowship Hall at Kelford Baptist Church in Kelford.
