Anne Miller Parker Hodges

KINSTON – Anne Miller Parker Hodges, 86, died at home on Friday, January 4, 2013.  She was the daughter of the late Paul and Lucy M. Parker of Lasker, NC.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Fodie H. Hodges; her brother, Paul E. Parker; and her son-in-law, Keith Rosemond.

She is survived by her sister, Carol Murphy of Long Boat Key, FL; her daughters, Carol Anne Rosemond of Hillsborough and Betsy Gwin and husband, Steve, of Buxton; and her beloved grandchildren, Katelyn Rosemond Glassman and husband, Drew, of South Orange, NJ, Charles Rosemond of Charleston, SC, Brantley Gwin of Greenville, and Paxton Gwin of Buxton. She is also survived by a special niece, Pattie Parker of Greenville; and dear friend, Debbie Briley of Goldsboro.

She was a graduate of Rich Square High School and East Carolina University where she received a degree in Home Economics. She taught in Warrenton, Nashville, Chicod, and at Grainger High School in Kinston.  She also taught sewing classes at Lenoir Community College.  She and her husband owned and operated Hodges Motel and Cottages at Cape Hatteras for forty-two years where they made life-long friends from all over the world.

She cherished the friends and fellowship of Northwest Christian Church, where she was a member for over fifty years.

In her retirement, she compiled family history and was an avid collector, enjoying her time searching for newfound treasures.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Northwest Christian Church.

Graveside services will be held at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Rich Square on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Amos Sykes officiating.
