FRANKLIN, VA – Alma Ruth Vaughan Rideout, 87, of Walters Highway, Franklin, VA, died Friday, December 28, 2012.

A native of St. Johns in Hertford County, NC, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert W. Rideout Sr.; parents, Carl Bruce and Hattie Belle Vaughan; and a sister, Jessie V. Harrison.

Mrs. Rideout was co-owner of the former Holland-Rideout Funeral Home. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.

Survivors include four children, Robert W. Rideout Jr., Benjamin V. Rideout, C. Bruce Rideout, and Ruth R. Whitley; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a special niece, Angela H. Smithwick; and two great-nephews, Willie Brown and Justin Smithwick.

A funeral service was held on Monday, December 31, 2012 in Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
