Raby Davis

CONWAY – Raby Davis, 91, died Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Vidant Hospice Hospital in Greenville.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Alice Sliger Davis; and parents, Hillard Davis and Ophelia Garner Davis; brothers, Charles Davis, Johnny Fred Davis, and Verdell Bryan Davis; and one sister, Hilda Davis Jenkins.

A native of Conway he was retired from Davis Enterprises where he was known as a craftsman for his cabinet making skills and would often donate some of his work to charities for auction. He was a retired Navy Veteran serving in World War II, Korea, and in the Navy Reserves and was a life long member of Galatia Baptist Church.  As a Master Mason his great joy was serving as Worthy Patron and Past Worthy Patron during his wife’s service in the Eastern Star.

Survivors include his loving daughter, Kaye Davis of their home; one brother, Kelly Mac Davis and wife, Reba, of Conway; one sister, Myrtle Draper of Weldon; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The family will be receiving friends at Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc. in Conway, Saturday, December 29, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and his funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 30 at 2:00 p.m. in Galatia Baptist Church with Rev. Lonnie Armstrong presiding.  Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in the Town of Conway Cemetery.
