Lavenia “Dean” Pierce Harmon

AHOSKIE – Mrs. Lavenia “Dean” Pierce Harmon, age 81, passed away at Guardian Care Nursing Home in Ahoskie on Monday, December 3, 2012.

Mrs. Harmon was a native of Northampton County and the daughter of the late Will and Viola Pierce. She spent many years in the medical profession as a unit secretary at Roanoke Chowan Hospital. She was a member of Higher Ground Church.  Mrs. Harmon had a love for reading and enjoying gardening with her husband. Mrs. Harmon was married to the late Herman G. Harmon, Sr., and to this marriage was born two sons.

Also preceding her in death was her son, Bruce Harmon; and her sister, Ruth Wright.

Survivors include her son, Herman G. Harmon, Jr. and his wife, Joan, of Ahoskie; her brother-in-law, Otto Wright of Roanoke Rapids; along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Highland Memorial Gardens in Ahoskie with the Rev. Raymond Faircloth officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
