HOBBSVILLE – Gordon Wright Bowen, nee Gordon Glenn Wright, of Hobbsville, died Thursday, November 1, 2012 in Primetime of Edenton.

Mrs. Bowen was born in Gates County and was the daughter of the late Lowther and Janet Bagley Wright. A retired reference and children’s librarian, she was a member of Warwick Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, refinishing furniture, and the maintenance of her family’s genealogy.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Bowen, Sr.; her son, George E. Bowen, Jr.; and by her brother, James O. Wright.

Surviving are her son, Glenn W. Bowen and wife, Mary, of New York City, NY; her daughter-in-law, Karen S. Bowen of Madison, OH; two grandsons, George E. Bowen, III and wife, Tracy, and Gordon S. Bowen and wife, Kate; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, by the Rev. Gene Asbill. A private burial of her cremated remains will be in the Warwick Baptist Church cemetery. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the chapel service.
