Northeast tops Northampton

CREEKSVILLE – Northeast Academy got off to a good start Aug. 22.

The Lady Eagles defeated Northampton County High School in a five-set volleyball affair, winning by counts of 20-25, 25-23, 25-22, 17-25 and 15-12.

“This team shows much improvement,” Northeast volleyball boss Cap Pfeiffer said. “We are looking forward to a better year.”

Lindsey Bryant led the way for the Lady Eagles. She recorded nine kills during the afternoon with four aces and one tip. Chelsea Rose was also outstanding. She had five aces, three blocks, three kills, two tips and a dig.

Alexis Soper recorded four assists in the win for Northeast while adding a pair of aces, two digs, a kill and an assist. Arielle Ricks contributed six assists, four aces and a pair of tips.

Northeast got four aces and a kill from Holly Byrum, one ace and one assists from Blake Lassiter and an ace from Brittany Parker.

The Lady Jaguars reversed the decision in the junior varsity matchup, taking a straight-set win.

Northampton claimed victory by winning 25-15 and 26-6.

Northeast was led by Holly Byrum with three aces and an assist while McKayla Davis had two aces and a kill. Haley Bolton had two kills and Hayley Mayle and Haley Jilcott added a kill each.
