Bethel Christian Academy’s varsity boys ran their win streak to nine in a row Friday.

Unfortunately, the streak didn’t quite make 10.

Friday the Eagles downed Jacksonville Christian Academy 72-50 Friday behind the combined efforts of Daniel Feher, Kyle Freeman, Shane Tripp and David Simmons. The foursome scored 15, 14, 13 and 12 respectively to lead the Eagles.

Bethel jumped out to an early lead, holding an 18-7 advantage after one quarter and then equaled their 18-point output in the second period to head into the locker room with a 36-20 halftime lead.

The Eagles added 16 points in the third quarter and 20 in the fourth to secure the conference victory.

Feher and Tripp each completed the double-double for the night with Feher pulling down 16 rebounds and Tripp grabbing nine 13 caroms. Freeman pulled down seven boards in the win.

The victory improved Bethel to 5-0 in conference and ran their record to 15-3 overall as they won their ninth straight.

The win streak came to an end Tuesday, however, as the Eagles dropped an 87-72 non-conference decision at Trinity Christian School in Greenville.

Trinity jumped out to an early 24-15 lead after one quarter and held a 44-34 advantage at the intermission.

Bethel bounced back to close the gap to 62-54 by the end of the third quarter, but Trinity pulled away to the win.

Despite the loss, the Eagles had four players in double figures led by Tripp’s 34 points. He added 14 rebounds to complete the double-double.

Feher was also had a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards. Rounding out those in double figures were Trey Hoggard (11) and Freeman (10).

The loss dropped Bethel to 15-4 overall this season.
