GREEN BAY,Va.- Jerry Franklin Bennett, 66, died Tuesday, November 8, 2011 inMurfreesborowith family by his side. He had been preceded in death by his parents, Joel Franklin and Myrtle Brown Bennett.

A native ofMurfreesboro, Jerry was born on September 25, 1945 and was a self-employed communications contractor who worked hard and enjoyed the simple things in life.  He was an Army Veteran serving in the 18th Airborne Corp. and was well liked by those he met.  During his brief illness he always had a positive attitude, never complaining, and in his latter dayssome of his greatest enjoyment came from nightly family devotions.  He will be greatly missed family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Jacky Bennett of Green Bay, VA;  a daughter, Sherry O’Berry and husband, Mark;  grandchildren, Jessica and Sarah all of Franklin, VA;  and a son, Keith Bennett;  brothers, Joel Bennett and wife, Ann, Robert Bennett and wife, Shirley, Dennis Bennett and wife, Jenny; and sister, June Harrell and husband, Robert, all of Murfreesboro.  He is, also, survived by special nieces and nephews, Joy Futrell, Julie Liverman, Bryan Harrell, Jennifer Rose, Jeremy Bennett, Brittany Hughes, and Rachel Bennett; and several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2011 inMeherrinBaptistChurchinMurfreesborowith the Rev. Joshua Parsons officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family is receiving friends at the home of Joel and Ann Bennett and has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Meherrin Baptist Church Sound System Fund.,519 Meherrin Ave.,Murfreesboro,NC 27855.
