CREEKSVILLE – Gates County High School scored 17 runs in the first inning here last week.

That was more than enough for the Red Barons as they claimed a 20-0 victory over Northampton County High School – East to open Tar-Roanoke Conference play 1-0.

Aaron Goetz picked up the pitching victory for the Barons, going three innings and allowing one hit while striking out seven.

Trebor Buck went 3-for-4 for Gates County with four RBIs to lead the offensive output.  Zach Badgett, Trey Lawrence, Graham Hobbs and Nathaniel Simpson had two hits each. Hobbs and Simpson added three RBIs each during the contest.

Gates County is 2-5 overall and 1-0 in league playing heading into Friday’s home game with KIPP Pride. First pitch for that contest is 4:30 p.m.
